In this introductory studio, we explored design through cases studies, diagramming, and gesture models. We examined the ways in which architects break from linear design, envisioning walls, ceiling and floors beyond vertical or horizontal planes. The studio project was set on a site in Golden Gate Park. The program included a community center, an art studio, a café and classrooms. My design explored qualities of light, curves and varied wall thicknesses to create an organic and spacious feel for the building. The only vertical walls are the exterior walls, which create a contrast between the interior and exterior space.
